Birds!

Today I'm going to talk about birds and ornithology.

Since I study Geography I watch the environmental with a different perspective. But was the last year when my passion for watch birds and photograph started. I remember that I did a course of wetlands conservations and the knowledge about the wildlife and specially birds that I obtained was fundamental to open my eyes and say: this is wonderful, exiting, funny, and makes me know more about this interesting animals. The ornithology is very special, because the knowledge is contributed by amateurs working and many of these people become in a specialist through the practice of birds-watching.

This activity makes me value in a positive way the environmental and the habit of the birds, and obviously visit these places to take a good photograph of the species in every place that I visit. I usually go to places near of Santiago, in the foothills of Los Andes, or wetlands and lakes. Is in this type of places where the birds fly, eat and have its nests.

When I went to Uruguay, this summer, I make the most of time to watch bird and photograph it, and I can say that I attained very good shots.

When I go to my field trips I invite some friends and my girlfriend to visit these places and everybody enjoy, sharing, photographing, eating, laughing, etcetera.

The photograph is very important, and the drawing too, because you doesn’t affect the birds like the hunt in old times.

Anybody can go out and know about birds and wildlife, specially our native species, so, if you had the opportunity to do it, do it!

That’s all

Bye!

Santiago of Chili

I like Santiago, I like my city, and it has a lot of beautiful places that you can visit. The principal places you can go is de down town, because it has many history building, and with a beautiful architecture, and you can eat in many restaurants which offer different kind of courses. My favorite restaurant in the down town of Santiago is Bar Nacional, and it has many locals, I always go to the Bar Nacional 3, which is located behind the Santiago Centro building, in Matias Cousiño Street. Santiago is a huge city, and it is very urbanized, but it still has some nature places with native flora and wildlife like the foothills of the Andes. I often tried to go to this kind of places to see the native flora, wildlife and to do one of my hobbies: take a photograph of birds, especially native birds.

I think Santiago is amazing city, but I hate the winter pollution, and the fucking building policy which wants to devastate the few native resources in our capital.

This is a photograph of a Striped Woodpecker (Picodes lignarus). I took this picture in the foothills of La Florida, in the Panul's Forest.

That’s All

See ya!

Art

The true is that I’m not a big art fan, and I don’t know a lot of pieces of art. But, when I was in the school, in history class, particularly in the class of The Renaissance I saw part of the work of Michelangelo, and I couldn’t believe that one person could do so many things in different areas of art, like sculpture, painting, architecture, and poetry. In my point of view, the most impressive work of Michelangelo is the painting of the roof of Sistine Chapel, and the painting of its wall behind the altar of the chapel. These paintings are amazing, and would enjoy watch this pieces of art by me, until that I only watch it in photographs. The paintings of the roof of the Sistine Chapel are known like the ceiling, and represents scenes from Genesis. And the painting situated in the wall behind the altar is called The Last Judgment. I like these paintings because I think that are amazing, very beautiful, leaving outside the religious connotation, because I’m atheist. And the work realized by Michelangelo was incredible, paint a entire wall with The Last Judgment and the entire roof with the ceiling, He was a incredible artist, one of the best ones in the whole history.

The first image is from The Final Judgment.
This is the creation of Adan.

And this is a painting inspired from The Creation of Adan, and is called The Creation of BART, jajajaja

La Gran Capital

My favorite board game is called “La Gran Capital” or “The Big Capital”. In the game you can move around the board and this has squares which represent properties and the objective of the game is buy this properties and earn money. I don’t remember when was the first time that I played this game, but I think that a learned to play reading the instructions of the box ahahaha. I used to play this game with my cousin, her name is Noelle, and I always won because usually I cheated xD. I think I played this board game every week, I liked so much, so I try to played frequently, but the game was very long, and I think very few times I managed to finish a game, so then I began to interest other games such as video games and cards, especially the card game called UNO. When I played The Big Capital I tried always win, at times I played with several cousins and everyone wanted to win, but usually I was the winner or when I was winning the rest would be withdrawn to avoid an imminent defeat. I liked this game because I could be the owner of many properties and earned my own money dominating the city.

In a near future I will to teach to play this board game to my son, I hope he like it as much as me.

A Good Book

If I have to chose a good book, I think that I will chose Chronicle of a Death Foretold or its original Spanish title: Crónicas de una muerte anunciada. This it’s a Gabriel García Márquez’s book and I read it when I was fifteen years old, and I read in the high school, because I had to choose a book to make a dissertation of any book. My uncle told me that was a really good book and he was sure that I will enjoy it. And He was right. The protagonist of the book it’s called Santiago Nasar and He is a man who manages an estate which He inherits from his father. After a weeding in the town, the husband called Bayardo San Román return to his new wife to her family (The Vicario’s family) because he discovered that she wasn’t virgin, and She said to her family that Santiago Nasar was the responsible of that fact. After that, the two brothers of this lady decided to revenge the honor of their family, so, they looked for Santiago for all around of the town, and everybody knew the intentions of these two brothers, but no one prevented it. Santiago known the intentions of the Vicario’s brothers when they found him in his own house and kill him in that place. Santiago was the last person of the town who realized the intentions of these brothers.

I enjoyed the narrative way of the book and its amazing history. If you wanna read a book, this one can be an excellent choice.

An ambition

My ambition requires other ambitions, because my principal idea is travel around the world. So, I have two possible options. One, get a job which let me have a business travel or to get a good job with an excellent salary to makes me pay my vacations. I would like to visit historic places, like Greece or Egypt, I also want to travel to far west like Simon, but my ambition is inspired by the history and the places which remember the past, the glory and ruin, the victory of a empire or the decadence of it. Near of our country, I would like to visit Peru, Ecuador, Argentine, Brazil or Mexico, specially the pyramids in the Yucatan peninsula. My preferences to choose a place to visit mainly reflect to be in the same place of an important event in the past and look the success of man. On the other hand I also enjoy the natural places, especially when I can photograph species of flora and wildlife, so I will to choose between history and nature. I think that I’ll chose a place depending with who will travel, because if I go with my little son It’s very difficult visit natural places, ‘cause many places have a lot of difficult access, but when he grow up we will can to go anywhere y I will show him the beauty of some places in our planet.

Beaches in Uruguay

I haven't visited many beaches in my life; the truth is that I prefer visit rivers and lakes. But this year I went to Uruguay, and I visited some beaches in Colonia del Sacramento, Montevideo, and Punta del Diablo. The last one is part of the Atlantic Ocean, and the others two belong to the River Plate. I enjoy a lot of all this beaches, but in my point of view the better one is Punta del Diablo. This beach is amazing, because is a small town, without asphalt streets, with small bars, and beautiful huts and hostels, that mainly accommodates young people, like me or Simon. Punta del Diablo is a fishing village and have amazing beaches, so the that activity now is a complement to the tourism, overcoat in summer, when the people can enjoy all the attractions of this beach. Also is important because near to this town exist a National Park, called Santa Teresa, which one contain a great many of Flora and Wildlife. You can visited the beaches of this National Park too, and swim in the ocean or watch the wildlife like native birds, or turtles in Cabo Polonio, or Wales in the coast of Rocha, the department where belong Punta del Diablo.

If you have the chance to visit Uruguay, you must to visit the beaches of Rocha, like Punta del Diablo, or the beaches that visited Simon, like La Paloma and La Pedrera.

You will not regret.
